Navigating a New Normal: Meeting the Needs of Today with Heart and Soul

Thank you for joining friends and colleagues for the 2022 Alliance Annual Conference, an event at which teachers, administrators, and board members from Public Waldorf schools, independent Waldorf schools, and new initiatives from across the nation gather together for renewal and unity. We will find colleagueship, connection, inspiration, new tools, and insights to take back into our work. Through a combination of seed presentations, themed workshops, and networking opportunities, we will explore aspects of our changing landscape, and how we are “navigating a new normal” in Public Waldorf Education.

“To form meaningful connections with others, we must first connect with ourselves…” Brene Brown, Atlas of the Heart. In this workshop participants will make individual “maps'' that will create visual representations of where they are on their journey. By mapping our social identity, emotions, and/or biography we will examine our connections to our communities and how we show up for others we share a similar landscape with. Using suggested readings, condensed written activities, and art, we will create our own personal maps and/or atlas. These exercises can be used for personal practice, with students, or within our community groups. This workshop has been developed to complement biography work and develop allyship.
